I was thinking about it… and I realized that it’s not everyone that knows my story. Today I will explain why I became a photographer in the first place.
At the age of fifteen, I asked to my grandma to give me, as a birthday present, a camera. I could see everyone having their own and I wanted to take some snaps too. After receiving one, I could start taking self-portraiture for social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, ect. Little by little, friends of mine started to like those pictures that I was taking. They were also leaving positive comments on them. I wanted to know more on how to use my camera effectively.
Few weeks after, my friends started to talk to me about a great website of art : deviantART. I started to follow fabulous artist around the world. It openned myself in new ways on how to capture little moments of life. I’ve created new relationships and I’ve developped new skills. My eye started to be more and more critique more I was learning.
At one point, I was so intrigued on how to use my camera that I’ve learned that my highschool was offering photography classes. That was the key of my new beginning in photography. I took two years of classes and I could mostly know any aspects of my camera. I could try new things. I could expand my mind to everything. Finally, I’ve learned there is no better artist than anyone else because we have all different eyes and perspective to see life.
Between those years, I started my own business: CINDY MELISSA BOISVERT PHOTOGRAPHY. My models, at the time, were mostly coming from my friends and my family. Until one day, I knew I could market my photos. I started to charge some fees and people loved my work so much they wanted to pay me: I got clients. My first client was the most beautiful couple I could see in my friends and I remember I was so proud of what I’ve accomplished.
At the end of highschool, I had more difficulty in finding models. I could still build my portfolio with my friends, but I really wanted to get in the industry. This is the moment when I started to really love fashion photography. During that summer, I was an assistant to a great photographer of the region and I really wanted to see how I could work with an agency model. I had no clue at the time. After helping this photographer, you have no idea on how much I’ve learned.
Little by little, I could build my own community of artist: photographers, models, makeup artist, hairstylist, designers, stylists, ect. Still today, I have so much to learn but you never stop grabbing information. I learn so much on the Internet. I’ve learned so much on being inspired every day. I’ve learned that to improve myself, I would need to take some risks.
Recently, I showcased my work with RAW community in my region. By showcasing your work, you help yourself to get you known in your city.
My photography could appear on few magazines such as COCO Magazine, RUTH Magazine, Inmense Magazine and LOCKK Magazine. Also, I won’t forget that I’ve been selected recently as finalist of Concours Intercollégial de photo 2013-2014 for this picture.
Today, I am professional portrait, fashion and fine art photographer. At the past, I was uncertain about my work. Now, I am more confident than I have never been. My goal is to get inspired and be inspired. I want woman to feel beautiful about themselves. I want to share beauty everywhere in anything. I want to share love, passion and fun because this is what life want us to live. Live by your passions. I love to interact with humain beings, to understand expressions, emotions, body language, fashion/clothing, makeup and accessories. Photography is what makes me unite with the world. It helps me to open myself up to others.
So after this long reading, get inspired from what you know and be inspired so you can inspire other people of the world. We are all a great community and if we help ourselves, we will grow together. Let’s become better 🙂
