It doesn’t matter if you shoot Nikon, Canon, Minolta or any other camera brand. In fact, every photographer should own a 50 mm lens! Here are my 5 top reasons why everyone should have a 50 mm lens in their camera bag!
The image has this special light that everyone loves. It just simply fits, in a beautiful way.
2. Makes you think
A 50 mm lens is fix so you have to think about how to capture the next image. In fact, a 50 mm lens is like how you see… you could almost replace your eyes with two 50mm lenses and it would look the same. It makes you think « Does it fit?» by the way you frame your subject and then you try to make it fit. Using prime lenses rather than zoom lenses force photographers to be more creative with compositions, more agile and overall “keep you on your toes” since you don’t have the luxury of zooming in or out for your shot.
3. Everything looks right
It’s hard to explain, but the 50mm lens just give too much of view. It’s great for portraits. Everything on a 50mm lens just look better.
4. It’s Versatile
When you have to go on the streets, all around the places, it just sits nicely around everything (not too wide, not too long). If you had one lens to bring, think about the 50mm lens. It’s a great “walk-around” lens that can be used for portraits and landscape.
The most awesome feature about the 50mm lens is that it has a vast aperture, meaning : bokeh. Getting that creamy bokeh is nice because you get finer in the depth of field. It really does isolate your subject.
There you go, those are my 5 top reasons why you need a 50mm lens – now I’d love to hear from you. Do you already have a 50mm lens? If so, please let me know in the comments below what your favorite thing about your 50mm lens is 🙂
As always… get inspired, be inspired.
Hugs to your awesomeness,
